Former NPF ministers G. Kaito Aye and Noke Wangnao have publicly tendered apologies to chief minister T.R. Zeliang and his family members for the damage caused on their reputation by their allegations that the chief minister and his wife had received money transfers under the head “Telegraphic Money Transfer DBS and OCBC Overseas & Foreign Currency Transfer”.
In their public statement, the duo explained that they had not authenticated the documents provided by one “Mr. Mohan Mani” and which they made public adding, it was an error of judgment on their part.
Expressing their sincere regrets to chief minister T.R. Zeliang and his family members, Kaito and Noke also apologized for the damages caused and declared that all the allegations made have been totally withdrawn.
Further they also said the FIR on money laundering against T.R. Zeliang and his wife, filed by T. Shuya at Diphupar Police Station has also been withdrawn on April 22, 2015.
Against the backdrop of the process of reconciliation (within NPF groups), they have requested the chief minister to “accept our apologies and our sincere regret and close the chapter on this issue” in the true spirit of reconciliation and for the sake of unity, understanding and oneness in the days to come.
They also said their apology and regret had been put across T.R. Zeliang in their meetings including one in June 10, 2015. In the meetings, Kaito and Noke said they have accepted responsibility for making wrong allegations and consequent damages caused.
Kaito and Noke further urged upon the investigating authorities not to initiate any further action or probe on the matter since they have totally withdrawn the allegations and expressed apologies and regret for the wrong allegations made publicly.
