Devp possible only when there are good roads: Gov

Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya stressed on the need to focus on infrastructure, electricity, education and trade.
“Development is possible only when there is good road connectivity. Nagaland stands to centre’s Act East Policy and the opportunity should not be allowed to be frittered away, but for that we need peace and aspire for development”, he said this against the backdrop of North East Governors meeting to be held in New Delhi on October 6.
The meeting has been convened by Union External Minister, Sushma Swaraj to brief on Centre’s ‘Act East Policy’.
In a communiqué, OSD to Governor informed that the Nagaland and Assam Governor, P.B. Acharya left for Delhi on Sunday to attend meeting.
Acharya will also be meeting Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal and discuss the Delhi government’s proposal of setting up of a “Cell for North East” people in Delhi.
A first of its kind, OSD said that the Governor has also asked Resident Commissioners of both Nagaland and Assam to prepare a thorough list of VIPs, sportsmen, musicians, literary persons as well as students from the North East living in Delhi for interaction.
The interaction programme is scheduled to be held on October 5 evening.
With a new outlook, calling it as the ‘Act East Policy’ in the line of Look East Policy, Swaraj would be briefing the Governors of North East as a follow up to the earlier conference held in February and 64th NEC meeting held in April 2015.
