Self-exiled rebels have no right to question CM: NPF youth wing

NPF Central Youth Wing, through the press bureau said “rebel members at Niathu resort” have no moral right to question why the chief minister did or did not distribute portfolios as “they have already abandoned their sworn responsibility in a self-imposed confinement camp at Niathu Resort for the last two months”.
NPF Central Youth Wing was reacting to the statement by press and media cell of the NPF (Noke) which slammed chief minister T.R. Zeliang and NPF (Central) president Dr. Shürhozelie for failure to allocate portfolios in time as committed to legislators. Further, the press bureau reminded that it was the prerogative of the chief minister to allocate portfolios “at the right time and to the right person” and not at the time when “they (rebel group) are all out to ravage the duly elected government and constitutionally recognized party (NPF) from their hiding place.” The youth wing countered, if the “rebel members” were so concerned about state affairs, they “should come out of their self-imposed confinement and joint the mainstream to voice their concern.”
The bureau said it was an irony that when “rebel leaders” had flouted all democratic and legal procedures in a desperate attempt to “hijack the democratically elected government”, they now questioned the democratic principle of the chief minister. The youth wing also blamed “few rebel leaders” for the “present political mess in the state” while trying to “usurp power, through a coup-like situation.” Further, the youth wing wondered how the “rebel group” still claimed majority when they themselves “had give absolute mandate” to chief minister T.R. Zeliang during the floor test on February 5.
It said the ‘repeated claim” by the “rebel group at Niathu Resort” of commanding majority was “quite disgraceful in the eye of the people.”
It also expressed surprise over the silence of the people of the constituencies represented by the ‘self-exile legislators at Niathu Resort” whose mandate have been taken for a ride. The bureau reminded as every minute is precious, every elected member was supposed to serve their people round-the-clock but for the past two months, “ those rebel legislators are hiding in self-confinement” and shedding their responsibilities for which people were made to suffer.
In this regard, the bureau said it was for the people to judge and decide what should be the fate of those elected representatives, “ who have wasted so much of their precious time and wealth in self-imposed confinement” for their own personal interest without performing their duties.
The youth wing advised “the rebel members” to come out of their self-imposed confinement before people’s patience ran out and added, the earlier the better.
