PGC organizes workshop on career guidance

A one-day workshop on career guidance was organized by Phek Government College (PGC) on June 2 at the college.
Resource persons for the workshop were Col. R. K Vikram, commandant, 22 Assam Rifles; Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury, SP Phek; Shanavas C., D.C Phek and district employment officer, Phek Gideon L. Sumi.
Speaking at the programme, Col. R. K Vikram, in his address highlighted the career prospects and avenues in the armed forces. He pointed out that passion and commitment were the key ingredients in pursuit of a career in the defence services.
Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury highlighted the challenges and hurdles faced by an aspirant of the public service examinations, especially for the civil service examinations. 
He explained the different stages of the civil service examinations and how to prepare for those stages.
He also stressed on the importance of self belief and commitment in preparing for the civil service examinations.
Gideon L. Sumi gave a talk on skill development and its employability in the context of skill development in the state. 
He stressed on the point that besides college degrees, skills could be used to meet economic and social challenges.
Shanavas C. spoke on career prospects in higher education in the public and private sectors. 
He pointed out that there were large opportunities in the private sector, especially with India emerging as the largest economy in the sub-continent. He also pointed out that dedication and commitment were the key parameters to achieving one’s goals especially in this sector.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor department of mathematics, Merenlemla Jamir and earlier, a welcome address was delivered by college principal, Dr. Vizovol Mekro.
Later, vote of thanks was delivered by assistant professor department of history and PGCTA president, Mulehu Khesoh.
