NNC (parent body) condemns June 2 raid

NNC (parent body) has strongly condemned the Assam Rifles raid on the house of the general secretary (NNC) & co-convener WC of NNPGs, V. Nagi on June 2 at around 11:30 p.m.
In a press note, Y.C Lotha, E. Patton and L.K Zeliang of the information & Publicity Wing claimed that the AR personnel, accompanied by three local youth in camouflage “in drunken mood”, ransacked and damaged Nagi’s house by breaking his locks in his absence.
They said that during the raid, which lasted till 3 a.m, AR took away Nagi’s old-dollar collection (1994 onwards), and family members’ fixed deposit money from four-lane road (Sechii Zubza) land compensation, two old Japanese rifles, one WW-II lady rifle with two helmets for use at Japanese Memorial Site, Puliebadze Jotsoma “for occasions”.
Also, it said that the items taken away included two licensed cartridge guns (not shotgun), one air-gun, one country made “spoiled” 9mm, a small normal binoculars, one “spoiled” night vision, one “spoiled” .22 pen gun, some old photos of peace work, one personal security pistol, “old records of NNC appeal/request for fund for peace and unity work in the homeland but not received amount of money records, NNC (Non-Violence Group) files/records, and family files of land/property etc.”
According to them, Assam Rifles raided and ransacked the house without a warrant or any documents from authorities, but with the intention to harm Nagi if he had been present.
It further alleged that the AR nearly shot his son who came out terrified to a corridor and was made to jump down from the building at gunpoint.
It further claimed that the AR also raided a Girls Hostel for students run by the family, terrifying the hostellers. Some of the students fainted so their doors could not be opened for the search, it added. NNC (parent body) said that they were going to lodge a complaint with the Women Commission and concerned authorities.
The signatories also said that the AR did not even spare Nagi’s bed-ridden mother, a stroke patient. “They even threatened to come back again for such search” it added.
The NNC (parent body) alleged that the AR personnel “came and did all these horrific and mental damaged with one Capt Ankit and his army of about forty (40) jawans” at this peaceful time of negotiations with the GoI.
“Did Assam Rifles carried out these search & ransacked with specific input from negotiation table or from the government (GoI)?” the NNC (parent body) demanded to know.
The parent body maintained that all these were “all conspiracy against NNPGs on Negotiation Table and the leader in particular.”
