ASUD jubilee park, free drinking water booth installed

Minister of PWD Tongpang Ozüküm Friday inaugurated Jubilee Park and public free drinking water booth near Hotel Saramati in Super Market area here Friday.

The park and drinking water outlet were constructed by ASUD as part of its golden jubilee celebrations (December 7, 2018) both of which will be maintained by the Union.

Speaking on the occasion, Ozüküm congratulated ASUD for carrying out noble tasks for the benefit and welfare of the denizens of Dimapur.

He pointed out that though there were thousands of organisations in the State, with their mottos and objectives to unite, develop and move ahead to make a the world better place to live in; yet many were not functioning according to their objectives.

He said if only every organisation followed its objectives, then the State would indeed be a better place to live in.

“To form an organisation is very easy, but to carry forward and focusing on its objectives is not so easy,” he quipped.

Ozüküm said though India was one of the fastest developing countries in the world, it failed to address one issue – the necessity to provide public parks or space for its people.

He underlined that public places were not only meant for recreational purposes, but t also had health, environmental and social benefits. He expressed a wish that parks and public places were created in every colony.

The minister urged the gathering to do something for benefit of the people of Dimapur in general and challenged them to emulate ASUD in making the State’s commercial hub a better place to live in.

He concluded by making an appeal to ASUD to broaden its horizon and take more responsibilities, including joining hands with others, to uplift and make Dimapur a better place to live in.

Words of appreciation were delivered by Development Authority of Nagaland, Dimapur Naga Council, Ao Senso Telongjem, Dimapur and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by member secretary, ASUD jubilee planning committee, Mozen Aier and dedicatory prayer for the jubilee park and free public drinking water booth was offered by DABA associate pastor Rev Ariba Imchen.
