Nagaland on Tuesday reported 266 fresh Covid-19 positive cases and three more fatalities.
Of the fresh cases, Dimapur recorded 162 cases, Kohima- 71, Tuensang- 11, Mon- 8, four each in Peren and Mokokchung, three in Longleng and one each in Kihpire, Phek and Zunheboto, adding up to the total caseload to 14717. The state currently has 1,798 active COVID-19 cases while 12,357 patients have recuperated from the infection.
Meanwhile, the death toll also rose to 118 (10 not Covid related) after three more patients succumbed to the virus. Further, the distribution across various categories of people include 4802 cases from the armed forces/police, 2693 returnees, 6628 traced contacts and 594 frontline workers.
Positivity rate among air travellers high: Ever since Covid testing began at the Dimapur airport for passengers on arrival, as many as 449 people have tested positive, according to state Health department data.
In its travel advisory issued on Tuesday, the department disclosed an alarming rise in Covid cases from amongst travellers at Dimapur airport. It said out of 833 passengers that were tested at the airport, between April 17-29, a total of 449 passengers were found to be positive with a positivity rate of 54%, the same was also published on May 2.
As reported in Nagaland Post, the testing of passengers were carried out since April 13.
