Six disgruntled BJP district presidents have written to party’s national president JP Nadda seeking that they be relieved from their responsibilities as district presidents.
Addressing the media at DUDA guest house here Wednesday afternoon, district presidents of Phek– Nucutso Ruho, Wokha- Yanthungo Kikon, Peren- T. John Panmei, Noklak- P. Demo, Tuensang- T. Chongshen Chang and Kohima- Seyiekhrielie Nagi said they were compelled to send the letter after waiting for a long time hoping that central leaders would heed to their repeated appeals.
However, since there was no response, they said they decided to write to the national president asking him to intervene at the earliest. They said that it had become impossible for them to work under the present State unit president Temjen Imna Along, alleging that he had been removing district presidents at his whims without citing any reasons or issuing show cause notices. They also alleged that Along had removed six district presidents so far and had unconstitutionally appointed his “henchmen”. They said there was no democracy in the party and that the State BJP president had been wilfully violating party’s constitution. Citing that they were elected by BJP election committee, the six presidents claimed that they had the support of party workers.
In their letter, a copy of which was shared with the media, the signatories pointed out that they had written numerous letters to the party’s different national leaders on several occasions appealing for their intervention. They also showed the certificates handed out to them when they were elected to their posts.
