The Yakor Village Students’ Union (YVSU) has extended its “unflinching support” to the memorandum submitted by Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) on May 26 to the chief minister of Nagaland with regard to unavailability of adequate manpower, facilities at community health centre (CHC) Shamator.
In a press release, YVSU president Kehoto Yimchunger and general secretary S Hanji Yimchunger said that despite several appeals made by various civil society organisations under Shamator area, the government was yet to take steps.
It stated that due to lack of adequate facilities and medicines, the people under its jurisdiction were facing a lot of difficulties since it was the only medical care under Yimchunger headquarters.
The union urged the responsible authority to fulfil the memorandum submitted by JCC which included: immediate deployment of additional doctors led by SMO; immediate deployment of additional five staff nurses GNM/ANM; immediate deployment of technician and pharmacists; provision for COVID-19 testing centre (Truenat) at Shamator and provisions for ambulance with advance life support system.
Further, YVSU appealed to the government that the demands raised were the prior needs for the people of Yimchunger.
It also warned the responsible authority that if the demands were not fulfilled, they would go to any extent through any possible means.
