Excise Dimapur duty party manning Newfield checkgate arrested one S. Bimol Singh (45) of Thomzu Part -II, Imphal, Manipur on charges of possessing Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) on October 31.
According to superintendent of excise & prohibition, T. Arilong Longkumer, the duty party at around 8:45 p.m., intercepted an Imphal-bound truck (AS 11CC 0336) and on frisking the vehicle recovered 198 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under bags of salt.
In this connection, the individual was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the NLTP Act 89’ and the case is currently under investigation
The duty party was led by Allen Jami A.I.E, T.K Medom lady/HC, T. Khekavi Assumi head constable, constables Akahoto, Thejong, Thrilise, Khalenthong, Tsatongli, Mathna and lady constable Sorila.
Checkgate surveillance has been heightened to stop the liquor inflow on account of the forth coming state election to be held next year at Manipur, Arilong informed.
Meanwhile, Dimapur excise duty party manning Newfield checkgate arrested one Ketuosienuo Awomi (43) from Tinpatti, Kohima on charges of possessing IMFL on October 31.
During a regular checkgate duty along NH-29 route, the duty party intercepted three vehicles, two Maruti Gypsy and one Toyota Fortuner around 12 p.m., and on frisking the vehicle recovered 80 cases of assorted IMFL.
In this connection, the individual was booked under the relevant sections of the NLTP Act 89’ and as per preliminary investigation, the accused admitted that the seized contraband IMFL was bound for Kohima.
The duty party was led by Allen Jami A.I.E, T.K Medom lady/HC, T. Khekavi Assumi Head Constable, Constables Akahoto, Thejong, Thrilise, Khalenthong, Tsatongli, Mathna and lady constable Sorila.
