District administration of Longleng and Mahila Shakti Kendra in collaboration with Phom Students Conference (PSC) conducted one day seminar on Career Guidance for school students on February 26 at LTBC.
Resource persons of the seminar were: Gimchuile, Lolisangla and Vikhotono pursuing M.sc in Psychology & Counseling at Martin Luther Christian University Shillong.
Delivering welcome address, PSC president, N. Dape Phom appreciated district administration, MSK-DLCW Longleng for organizing the program after the pandemic. In his short speech, Trongdiba T. Sangtam, SDO(C) & Nodal Officer BBBP Longleng shared his testimony and explained both failure and success as well.
Gimchuile spoke on the topic, “What is Career? And the difference between Career and Job”; Vikhotono explained on “Aptitude & Interest, Career Developmental stages & Lack of Career success” and Lolisangla emphasized on the topic, “Career information & Importance of Career Information”.
SASRD: School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema also organized a one day career orientation and counselling programme on February 26. Around 300 undergraduate and post graduate students attended the programme. The programme included three sessions with resource persons from NECI and Imperial Coaching Institute Dimapur. The first session was taken by Head faculty, NECI Dimapur, Tapanjit Sinha. He oriented the students on NPSC exam and deliberated upon adopting suitable strategies for success. In the second session ,Imperial Coaching Institute Dimapur, Saurav Saket oriented the students on UPSC civil services exam, strategy and resources for preparing General Studies, and motivated them for a planned approach for success.
The third session was taken up by Chief operating officer, Imperial Coaching Institute Dimapur, Rahul Sen, who conceptualized success and motivated the students to set proper career goals.
Prof. K. K. Jha, I/C Counseling & Placement Cell, deliberated on various promising career opportunities available in the field of agriculture during his introductory remarks.
He thanked Prof.Alemla Ao, Pro Vice –Chancellor and Prof. Akali Sema, Dean NU:SASRD for providing all needed facilities and help. He also applauded the SU: SASRD for their supportive role in organizing the counseling programme.
