Training on organic farming in Longleng

One day farmers’ training programme on organic farming under Mission Organic Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) programme was held on October 26 at EPRC hall, Longleng town the department of agriculture, Longleng.
The training was organized for the selected organic cluster villages under the district focusing mainly on organic value chain development and formation of farmers’ producer organization. 
At the programme, District Agriculture officer (DAO), Dr. D.K. Chetri, in his key note address, explained the importance of formation of organic farmer’s producer organization which will be registered under the Nagaland cooperative society Act. 
Exhorting the famers SDO (Civil) Longleng, D. Robin, said that Longleng district has a huge potential especially on crops like cardamom and ginger.
APMC Longleng, chairman, Angai Phom spoke on the importance of the organic farming while Agriculture Officer (AO) and project in-charge Bonkam Phom gave the overview of the project in the district.
Later, during the technical session ARCS Longleng, Chume Chang, explained in detail the procedure of registering the cooperative society and the benefits the farmers can avail by doing so. 
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDAO Tamlu, Laklei Phom and vote of thanks was proposed by SDAO, Longleng K. Sohang SDAO.  Altogether, 65 farmers and field staffs attended the programme.
