The youth organizations of Sechu Zubza, Kiruphema and Sechuma organized a plantation drive on July 29 along the stretch of the PWD road connecting Kiruphema and Sechuma villages.
The day’s plantation was organized with the aim to contribute for the well being of earth and also to preserve the biodiversity.
Ever since the National Highway 29 got completely cut off at Peducha, this road has served as the alternate route for the lighter vehicles. Some of the youth volunteers also rendered their services for the road, in those portions, which had been worsened during the monsoon.
Around hundred youth volunteers representing Sechu Zubza Youth Organisation (SZYO), Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) and Sechuma Youth Organisation (SYO) took part in the plantation programme.
The three youth organizations have also voiced the need for proper maintenance of this PWD road, so that it served the public well in times of crisis. It may be mentioned that the youth organizations have also conducted mass social work within their respective jurisdictions during the monsoon.
Over a thousand cherry trees donated by a nature and biodiversity conservation enthusiast, Er. Penri Yanthan were planted.
Meanwhile, SZYO president Viketouzo Meyase, KYO president Kezevilie Hojha and SYO president Petekhrieto Nipu have extended their appreciation to Er. Penri Yanthan for donating the cherry trees.
TYC: Tsupfume Youth Club (TYC) in collaboration with 9th Assam Rifle, Alpha Company also conducted tree plantation program on July 29, at Tsupfume community hall under the theme “go green and beautiful”.
At the programme, guest speaker 9th Assam Riffle Alpha Company, post commander Major Alex, challenged the youth to cut less and plant more trees to combat global warming.
Alex lamented that due to excessive cutting down of trees, drought becomes dangerous to people and animals and may lead to severe famine and even create deserts by deforestation. He encouraged the youth to be the agent or model of afforestation in the society.
He informed the villagers that he would be organizing more programs related to environment and health care and even requested the community to approach him or his office for any assistance.
The program started with the quote “change it not by chance but by choice” chaired by Sarhulu Lea, opening prayer by TBC pastor, Neingolo Leho and welcome address delivered by TYC president Vivutou Lea. TYC advisor Dakho Lea, thanked the guest speaker for his presence and also for sponsoring refreshment which was followed by mass tree plantation.
