41 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) along with police representative established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Kukidolong, Dimapur on July 25 and nabbed four persons along with 400 kg marijuana (ganja) worth Rs 60 lakh.
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N) during the operation, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a Tata truck (No NL-07A-6367) along with four occupants and during search of the vehicle, 34 packets of marijuana was recovered.
PRO informed that the individuals were identified as Tsuthoni Tahe, resident of Sumi village, Phek; Kanmila Vasum, resident of Soraphung village, Ukhrul, Manipur; Tekhewete Lasuh, resident of Krowemi village, Ukhrul, Manipur and Mewelo Lashu resident of Soraphung Village, Ukhrul, Manipur.
PRO also informed that a person indentified as Mewelo Lashu resident of Soraphung Village, Ukhrul district and owner of truck was also arrested. He revealed that marijuana was being transported from Jessami to Dimapur. The apprehendees along with the recovered items were handed over to Medziphema Police Station for further investigation, informed PRO.
