DBS celebrates 157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

Dimapur Bangali Samaj (DBS) celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore and post Bengali New Year on May 28 at Society of Dhamma Bodhi & Meditation, Kevija-U Village, Dimapur.  
The pupils of Dimapur Railway High School inaugurated the function with an opening song, wherein function was presided over by Kamala Kanta Paul, president of Dimapur Bangali Samaj. 
A press note by DBS president, K. K. Paul stated that the chief guest of the function was Prof. (Retd.) Debashish Dutta (Head of the Dept. of Bangla) & guest of honour was Prof. (Retd.) K.P. Aviksit (Head of the Dept. of English) and also special guest was M. Bhattacharjee, principal of Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.  Various community leaders of Dimapur also graced the occasion and extended their best wishes to the Bangali Samaj for their benevolent activities to the societies. The meritorious students of HSLC & HSSLC examinations who had secured the hightest marks were felicitated by the Bangali Samaj with certificate and money. 
Besides awards were also given to the first four Durga Puja Committee of 2016 and appreciation certificate to all Durga Puja Committee. Various artists of Dimapur & other places performed songs, dance, recitation and musical band. Vote of thanks was given by Nirmalendu Barua, cashier of Dimapur Bangali Samaj.
