
One-day awareness programmes on centrally sponsored schemes was organized by KVK Dimapur, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema on June 2.
Senior scientist and head KVK Dimapur, Dr. Anamika Sharma, appealed the farmers to learn about centrally sponsored schemes and take advantage of Rastriya Kaushal Vikas Yojna.
Resource person of the programme were NABARD, Dimapur assistant general manager, A.C. Biswas and SBI field officer Medziphema Uttam Das.
The objective of the programme was an interface with NABARD and SBI on how the beneficiaries could apply the various loan schemes.
Joint director, in his remark encouraged the farmers for backyard poultry farming as well as production of vermin compost on commercial scale for better income and livelihood.
He suggested that any weeds / local grasses can be easily converted into very compost even house hold wastes like peels of fruits and vegetables can also be used in materials for vermin composting.
A.C Biswas apprised the farmers about entrepreneurship development through Agri and allied sector, where they can avail 40% subsidy and 10% their contribution and 50% amount as loan.
He mentioned about Kisan Credit Cards, which was an easier and smart way of farming.
Uttam Das, field officer SBI, informed the beneficiaries that they could avail the facilities of KCC.
For applying KCC the farmers need to submit their dully filled application, photocopy of Aadhar card no., one photograph and KYC to the bank nearest to their village/ any bank where they have the account. After getting the KCC the farmers can also avail the micro financed crop insurance scheme implemented by SBI, Medziphema.
Alemla Theriah, an innovative farmers of KVK Dimapur also shared her experience with the farmers with her vermin compost production with 10 number of earthworms at Naga united village, Dimapur district.
The participants were already trained as “Vermi compost Producer” and “Broiler Poultry Farm Worker” sponsored by Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) on March 6 and April 3 as skill trainees.
Altogether 32 farmers participated in awareness programme on centrally sponsored schemes funded by Government of India from different villages of Dimapur as well as Peren district.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by SMS soil science, Z James Kikon and vote of thanks was proposed by SMS animal science, KVK Dimapur Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie.
