Landslide affects vehicular movement

Following a major landslide along the NH-29 at Peducha area under Kiruphema village in the first week of May, movement of several hundred vehicles were affected due to sinking by incessant rain in the landslide area.
The vehicles heading towards Dimapur from Kohima were re-directed at Sechii Zubza CRPF camp to Bawe- Keruphema Basa- Peducha; while vehicles coming from Dimapur towards Kohima were re-directed at Peducha to Tsiesema for all light vehicles except some heavy vehicles.
Meanwhile, Kiruphema Youth Organization (KYO) volunteers were assisting the passengers and traffic movement at Peducha (Lalmati). KYO volunteers were also engaged in widening of the road by conducting mass social work at their own expense.
One KYO member informed this correspondent that the landslide could continue through the rainy days and if rains stop, vehicular movement would return to normal along the national highway.
