DPDB meetings held at Tuensang, Phek

District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Tuensang and Phek held their respective monthly meeting on August 16 and 10.


A DIRP report informed that the meeting at Tuensang was presided over by Imtichuba Chang, MLA and chairman of DPDB Tuensang.


At the meeting, the minutes of the previous month’s session were reviewed.
Recommendations were put forth, including the establishment of a helipad in Noksen Town and the creation of a new government school in Yungphang Village.


The meeting also featured a presentation by the Eleutherous Christian Society (ECS) Tuensang regarding waste management in Tuensang town. It was decided that a committee would be formed to promote awareness and proper waste segregation at the household level. Furthermore, the board recommended NABARD be engaged on behalf of ECS for the development of water resources and watersheds in the Laktak, Moyangse, and Chendang catchment areas.


The board also endorsed the establishment of sub-centers in Ngangpong Village and Eshou Village, as well as the creation of a ginger processing unit in Tuensang.
At the meeting, presentations on departmental activities were provided by NST Tuensang and the Sericulture department of Tuensang.


PHEK: The meeting was held on August 10 at DPDB Hall, Phek which was chaired by deputy commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, and attended by advisor of CAWD & Taxes, Kudecho Khamo.


At the meeting, Khamo suggested re-christening of Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) to Phek District Olympic Association (PDOA), which was agreed by the house and decided to integrate the proposed mechanism into PDOA structure.


The recommended office bearers for the PDOA included:
Governing Body: president: chairman DPDB, vice president: deputy commissioner, member secretary: DSO, Organizing Secretary: select/nominate, executive members: all MLAs, with four persons selected/nominated from the general body.


It was also determined that the Phek District Olympic Association would function in coordination with the department of Youth Resources & Sports and the Nagaland Olympic Association.


Proposals for Local Area Development Programmes for the upcoming year 2023-2024 was also discussed and the participants reached a consensus to forward these proposals to the State Planning Board for approval.


Registration of the Vaphi Society in Phek Village was discussed and agreed to forward the matter to higher authorities for necessary action. Furthermore, preparations for the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of Phek district were addressed.


Khamo called upon various office heads and committees to actively contribute and promptly provide reasonable budgets.


The meeting also featured presentations by managers from telecom service providers (Jio, Airtel, and BSNL) in the district, showcasing their service activities. In his address, president of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), Vezuhu Keyho, appealed to officers stationed in the district to collaborate and strive for optimal outcomes.
