Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) called for bandh in the Chakhesang region of Phek district on February 1, 2017 from 6am to 6pm to show their resentment against the government’s decision on ULB election.
In a press release, CYF president, Welete Kapfo, and organising secretary, Khoto Tetseo, however, informed that hospitals, pharmacies, security forces, administration, medical duties, wedding and funeral parties and power department were exempted from the purview of bandh.
CYF has asked the government registered vehicles to remain off road. In this regard, the CYF has directed the town/village youths to make necessary arrangement.
In the event of any untoward incident, CYF cautioned that the state government would be held responsible. Meanwhile, CYF has requested the public to extend cooperation.
CPO: Chakhroma Public Organsation (CPO) has informed that it would impose a total bandh under its jurisdiction on February 1 from 6am to 5pm.
In a press release, CPO president, Vichütuolie Mere, said that the bandh will be in effect from Piphema to Assam-Nagaland border on the National Highway and all adjoining routes. It stated that police and army personnel on duty, magistrate, ambulance and the media have been exempted from the bandh.
RH: Rengma Hoho (RH) has stated that it would impose total bandh on February 1 in Rengma jurisdiction extending its solidarity with the rest of the other Naga tribes against the decision of the government to conduct ULB election. The Hoho said the total bandh would include restriction of vehicular movement along the national highway that crosses Rengma area. It also informed medical, media, ambulance, para military forces and magistrate on duty have been exempted from the bandh.
