Educational institutions, others organise programmes

As part of academic and extracurricular activities, various programmes and activities were organised by educational institutions and other organisations for the student community and faculties.


MGMHSS: MGM Higher Secondary School (MGMHSS) Dimapur conducted a two-day orientation seminar for the parents of newly admitted students to Class 11 (Arts, Commerce and Science streams) on May 16-17. At the seminar, MGHSS principal, Reji Abraham, briefed the parents on different challenges and opportunities the students are going to experience in the school in the next two years. He encouraged parents to develop the habit of maintaining a good relationship with the school and particularly with the teachers, to enable the students to be more serious and disciplined in their studies and other activities.


GHSS Seikhazou: Students from Class 10 (multi skill) and Class 12 (agriculture) from Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire GHSS, Seikhazou, Kohima, on May 18 embarked on a field trip to Mima Village Bee Farm. They also participated in a community service activity at Kisama, Nagaland Heritage Village. As part of their initiative, the students collect and dispose of plastic waste, contributing to the preservation of the cultural heritage and the beauty of the village.


UC & DGC: A one-day workshop on “research writing and ethics” was organised by the Research and Development Cell, Unity College (UC) in collaboration with Dimapur Government College (DGC) on May 11 for the PG students of Unity College. The resource persons were assistant professor (department of economics) Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, and assistant professor (department of education), Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, both from DGC.


NSUS: Naga Students’ Union Shillong (NSUS) organised a Naga Plebiscite Day commemoration programme on May 16. During the programme, NSUS president, Chiran Shimrah, highlighted the gathering on the importance of the observation of Naga Plebiscite Day.

Delivering a talk on the topic “History of the Nagas and its present scenario”, head of department, Philosophy, NEHU, Professor Xavier P Mao, enlightened the participants about the past sacrifices of the Nagas and how they have impacted and paved the ways for the younger generation. Short speeches were also delivered by the president of Naga Elders Forum and NSUS former president, Wungkui V Zimik.
