Speaking at the rally, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier stated that AKM wrote to the department on many occasions about the problems faced by IMDH not only the shortage of doctors but also other medical staff.

However, he said that the appeals and representations fell on deaf ears. Aier said there was no response even after it submitted representation and expiry of seven-day ultimatum on the department.

At the meeting, he said that the department assured for immediate efforts of posting required doctors to IMDH. However, AKM affirmed that all its demands should be addressed within a time frame and the department should give the assurance in written without which the agitation would continue in a phased manner.

AKM president further rebutted the health department’s statement published in local dallies, in which the meeting minutes stated that the certain points have been discussed and agreed upon.

AKM pointed out that they were not a part of the agreement. AKM said its demands stands that a written assurance should be given by the department otherwise the protest would continue.

Meanwhile, Ao Senden and Watsu Mungdang also took part in today’s rally and briefly gave solidarity speeches. Ao Senden vice president Aowati, stated that medical facilities, infrastructure etc were the government’s responsibility and that the government should not move their focus away from such responsibilities.

She said “We all know what is ailing IMDH” and further called upon all to join hands and stand together on the issue. She further extended Watsu Mungdang’s continued support towards the cause.
