Israel Launches New Strikes on Iran After Missile Interception

Israel conducted fresh airstrikes on Iran early Monday, shortly after intercepting a missile fired from Iranian territory. The Israeli military reported that over 15 warplanes targeted “military infrastructure sites” in Iran’s Kermanshah province, striking surface-to-surface missile launch and storage facilities.

The Iranian missile attack, which triggered air raid sirens across Israel before dawn, was successfully shot down with no reported casualties or damage. This Iranian retaliation followed a suggestion by US President Donald Trump of a possible regime change in Iran, coinciding with heavy US bomber and submarine strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed continued “punishment” for Israel, calling recent attacks “a big crime.” He stated on X, “The punishment continues. The Zionist enemy has made a big mistake, committed a big crime; it must be punished, and it is being punished; it is being punished right now.”

These developments follow Israeli attacks on June 13 against various Iranian nuclear and military sites, which killed several senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Iran has since retaliated with its own missile and drone strikes on Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed on Sunday that Israel would continue its operations “at full tilt in both Iran and Gaza,” vowing not to be “dragged into a war of attrition.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Iran’s parliament voted to support closing the Strait of Hormuz after the US strikes, though the final decision rests with the Supreme National Security Council. The US strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer”—mark America’s first direct involvement in the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.
