FGN reaffirms Rhakho’s leadership; terminates ‘Dy C-in-C’

DIMAPUR

Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has issued a rejoinder to the June 17 statement regarding the impeachment of its ‘Kedahge, Gen. (Retd.)’ T.M. Rhakho, asserting that the process was “illegitimately orchestrated” and lacked conformity with the Yehzabo (FGN Constitution).
In a press release ‘NSA Midam Mayam Riyam’, FGN, Vekronu Dozo, informed that according to Article 22 and Article 76(c) of the Yehzabo, only the NSA Midam (Chief Justice) is authorized to preside over Kedahge impeachment proceedings. It alleged that the recent move was carried out without following these legal provisions, and with malicious intent to undermine the NNC/FGN’s legitimacy.
FGN reaffirmed its trust in the leadership of Gen. (Retd.) T.M. Rhakho, stating that the NNC/FGN remains firmly under his command.
Meanwhile, the Kedahge has issued a termination order against ‘Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Dy C-in-C), Naga Army, Maj. Gen.’ Langshe, with immediate effect. The termination was reportedly based on the authority granted by Article 30 of the Yehzabo.
According to the release, an emergency Tatar Hoho convened on June 19 at Thuvopisu village found ‘Maj. Gen.’ Langshe guilty of violating Naga Army Rules and Regulations—specifically Chapter 14, Section 4 (conspiracy against the government), and Chapter 4, Section E(4) (overreach of authority in terminating three officers without Federal approval). Consequently, the release also announced the revocation of the termination ‘Ahza’ issued by Langshe against the three Naga Army officers.
