Tetso College held its convocation ceremony on August 2, at Lorin Hall, to honor the academic achievements of its graduating students. The event was a momentous occasion, bringing together graduates, faculty, family members, and dignitaries for a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and excellence.
Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Chümoukedima, professor Dr. A. Elayaperumal, delivered the commencement address. In his speech, Dr. Elayaperumal highlighted the immense potential of India’s Northeastern states, envisioning a future where these regions transition from frontier zones to become the economic leaders of the nation within the next four decades. He encouraged graduates to play an active role in this transformative journey and emphasized the importance of leveraging the region’s natural resources, strategic location, and rich cultural diversity to drive economic growth and innovation.
A total of 248 graduates were formally conferred with their degrees during the ceremony, marking the culmination of their academic journeys at Tetso College.
Tetso College, principal, Dr. Hewasa L. Khing delivered a heartfelt address to the graduates, praising their resilience and perseverance, particularly in overcoming the challenges posed by the global pandemic and personal struggles. She urged the students to embrace the future with courage, integrity, and a commitment to excellence values instilled during their time at Tetso College.
Among the graduating students, Charabuni Kape, MA English, and college topper, emphasized the importance of preserving cultural identity amidst the forces of globalization. Meanwhile, Neilanuo Metsie-O, BA Psychology Honours, who secured the top position in Nagaland University, spoke on the significance of maintaining a positive mental health mindset, encouraging her peers to prioritize their mental well-being in an increasingly demanding world.
The ceremony was presided over by assistant professor, Dr. Asenla Yanger, who chaired the event, with the invocation led by Khiamniungan Baptist Church, Dimapurm, associate pastor, Pongom S. Khiam.
