CoRRP slams Cabinet decision on quota issue

DIMAPUR, AUG 7 (NPN)

5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has slammed the August 6, cabinet decision on Backward Tribe (BT) reservation issue, describing it as a repetition of the earlier June 12, 2025 meeting.
In a press release, CoRRP convenor Er Tesinlo Semy and member secretary GK Zhimomi maintained that the cabinet chose to ignore the CoRRP’s core demands–either scrap the existing Reservation Policy or allocate the unreserved quota to the five tribes.
CoRRP pointed out that the cabinet had rather gone ahead with the composition of the reservation review commission that included civil society organisations (CSOs) such as Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) and Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN).
The committee also hit out at what it described as a “partisan attitude” of the government spokesperson in justifying 48 years of indefinite reservation policy and “throwing up wild imaginary figures” in government employment. CoRRP also said interlinking reservation review commission outcome with next census only added insult to its pursuit.
CoRRP said it will hold a joint meeting with five apex tribe bodies to decide on the next course of action.
