Nagaland governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at a coordination meeting held at Raj Bhavan on Friday reviewed ongoing highway projects.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, discussions during the meeting focused on the status of ongoing works along the Peren-Dimapur, Kohima-Jessami, Kohima-Mao, and Dimapur-Kohima stretches of the highway.
At the meeting, officials highlighted both the progress achieved and the challenges encountered in those portions. A detailed PowerPoint presentation was also made by NHIDCL and PWD (NH), outlining the current status of the projects.
The governor suggested exploring alternate connectivity in affected areas and stressed the need for proper drainage and sewage systems to ensure long-term road sustainability.
Further, Bhalla emphasized the importance of strict monitoring of overloaded trucks, particularly along the Nagaland-Manipur highway.
The governor also urged all responsible departments and agencies to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of the projects for the benefit of the public.
NPWD commissioner and secretary, Kesonyu Yhome, also apprised the governor of specific highway locations where the state government was undertaking management works.
The meeting was attended by officials from the NHIDCL, public works department (PWD) officials, national highways officials, ADGP (law & order) Sandeep Tamgadge, commissioner of police Dimapur Aotula T. Imchen, deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, deputy commissioner Chumoukedima, Polan John.
