ZLSU condemns harassment of minor

DIMAPUR, SEP 28 (NPN)

Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) has condemned what it described as the disgraceful and criminal act committed by one Ajmal Hussian against a minor student, a Class 9 student and bona fide member of the union.
In a condemnation note, ZLSU stated that this was not just a case of teasing or misbehaviour, but a deliberate, repeated and shameful violation of the girl’s dignity and safety. The union said the accused had not only outraged the modesty of a minor but subjected her to constant harassment, causing immense trauma.
Describing the act as “sickening, unacceptable and intolerable under any circumstance”, ZLSU said it was even more alarming that such acts were happening within the state, where every girl should feel safe and protected.
The union demanded that police authorities act without delay and immediately arrest the accused and charge him under all applicable sections of law, including provisions of the POCSO Act and BNS (IPC). ZLSU asserted that justice must be swift and absolute.
It also called upon the state government and district administration to strictly enforce Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations, describing ILP as a protective mechanism for the Naga people that must be fully implemented to prevent such dangerous elements from entering and violating peace in the state.
Extending solidarity, ZLSU assured the victim of full moral, legal and emotional support and prayed for her recovery. It also urged the student community to remain alert, strong, and not remain silent in the face of abuse, but to report such incidents to the authorities and the union. ZLSU reaffirmed that it would not allow the incident to be brushed aside and would continue to follow the case until justice was delivered.
