Durga Puja celebrations have commenced across Nagaland, drawing devotees in large numbers and highlighting devotion, discipline and community spirit.
Speaking with Nagaland Post, Shree Shree Durga Mandir Old Daily Market trustee Mahesh Agarwal informed that every morning and evening, regular puja and aarti were being performed, followed by the distribution of sweets among devotees. He added that special evening puja rituals had also started from today, attracting enthusiastic participation from the community. Organisers have also placed emphasis on fasting and devotional practices throughout the celebration period, in keeping with tradition.
When asked about the number of pandals set up in the city, Shree Shree Durga Mandir Old Daily Market secretary Sanjay Agarwal stated that a total of 51 puja pandals had been established across Dimapur under the prayerful theme of “Peaceful Dimapur, Peaceful Nagaland.”
According to him, the initiative was aimed at fostering peace, unity and cultural harmony across the state during this festive season.
In addition to the spiritual aspects, the Hindu Seva Samiti, Dimapur has also ensured that the celebrations remain environmentally responsible. It was mentioned that all measures have been taken to control the use of plastic, with strict adherence to eco-friendly practices and protocols. This initiative, the organisers said, was to ensure a cleaner and greener Durga Puja for the community.
The Puja festivities are expected to continue with fervour and devotion until Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra.
