Police recruitment: CPO, WSH urge CM to rectify ‘unjust’ post allocation

DIMAPUR, OCT 3 (NPN)

The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) and Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) have expressed strong resentment over the recently advertised recruitment of constables (GD) in the Police department, alleging “discriminatory” allocation of posts for Chümoukedima and Niuland districts.
In a joint representation to the chief minister, CPO and WSH stated that the “district-wise post allocation based on tribal ratio” had placed Chümoukedima and Niuland under the general/open category, instead of granting them separate allocations like other full-fledged districts. They said the decision was “arbitrary and discriminatory,” especially since both districts had been officially recognised and notified as independent districts of Nagaland.
By placing Chümoukedima and Niuland in the general pool, CPO and WSH said the department had deprived the indigenous populations of rightful representation and employment opportunities, while undermining the very purpose of district creation.
They asserted that such action disregarded administrative autonomy and put the youth of both districts at a disadvantage compared to other districts with separate allocations.
They maintained that such discriminatory practice was unacceptable as it sent a discouraging message to the people of the two districts regarding their status and recognition within the state’s administrative framework. CPO and WSH, therefore, urged the chief minister to immediately reconsider and rectify the “unjust allocation” by granting separate and fair post allocations to Chümoukedima and Niuland, as accorded to other recognised districts.
They asserted that justice and equity required indigenous youth of both districts to be provided the same opportunities as their counterparts across Nagaland. They expressed confidence that the chief minister would give due consideration to their legitimate demand and take corrective measures to uphold fairness, justice and equal representation.

NDGBA demands fair representation in posts allocation

DIMAPUR, OCT 3 (NPN): Niuland District GBs Association (NDGBA) has expressed deep disappointment over the recently advertised recruitment of constable (GD) posts in the Nagaland police department.
NDGBA through its media cell noted that the district-wise allocation of posts under the general open category has been clubbed together for both Chümoukedima and Niuland districts, instead of granting separate allocations for each district.
The association said such a decision was “discriminatory and unfair” as it directly undermined the principle of equal representation for all districts in Nagaland.
NDGBA contended that Niuland, as a full-fledged district, deserved its rightful share of representation in all government recruitments, just as accorded to other districts of the state.
Therefore, NDGBA has appealed to the state government to review its decision in the greater interest of fairness and justice. It urged the government to ensure that Niuland district was accorded separate and equal allocation of posts in the recruitment process.
The association expressed hope that the government would consider its appeal and take corrective measures to uphold the principles of equality and inclusiveness.
