Nagaland restoration of Liezocha-Kezanu road underway

CorrespondentKOHIMA, OCT 27 (NPN)

Restoration work on the monsoon-damaged Liezocha-Kezanu road is now progressing after several weather-related delays. The stretch, located in a known sinking zone, had recently subsided again, necessitating urgent repairs.
With improved weather conditions, work crews have resumed operations, focusing on realigning the road onto more stable ground along the hillside. Officials informed that the process involves acquiring around two acres of land, and that local landowners have extended full cooperation to facilitate the work.
According to reports, if the current pace of work continues uninterrupted, the road is expected to reopen by the end of November.
However, officials cautioned that due to the area’s geological instability, a complete and long-term restoration may remain challenging.
Authorities have assured that all necessary precautionary measures are being taken to ensure both road safety and structural stability once the route is reopened to vehicular traffic.
