DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (NPN): A speeding Bolero rammed into three vehicles near West Police Station, Dimapur on Sunday afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses, the Bolero, which was heading towards Dhobinala, first hit a Mahindra Thar before crashing into a parked WagonR and a scooty outside a nearby hospital. Owner of the Mahindra Thar said he had just picked up a patient from the hospital and was about to leave when he noticed the Bolero approaching at high speed in an apparently uncontrolled manner. “Seeing the vehicle coming fast, I tried to give way, but it struck my vehicle from behind,” he said.
Following the impact, the Bolero reportedly continued forward and rammed into the parked WagonR and scooty. The owner of the WagonR said they had come to visit a patient and had parked the vehicle outside the hospital.
Fortunately, no one was inside the car at the time of the collision and no injuries were reported. When asked about the condition of the driver, the WagonR owner alleged that the manner in which the driver was speaking suggested possible alcohol influence, though this could not be independently verified.
Police personnel from West Police Station immediately rushed to the spot and apprehended the driver along with other occupants of the Bolero. They were taken inside the police station amid tension at the scene as an agitated crowd gathered following the accident. No casualties were reported till the filing of this report.
