DIMAPUR: State Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Social Welfare Department organised a State Level Consultative Meeting and Training Programme for district functionaries of Mission Shakti at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) auditorium, Kohima, on May 15.
The programme aimed at strengthening coordination, capacity building and effective implementation of women and child welfare schemes across Nagaland.
Chairing the inaugural session, Social Welfare director and Mission Shakti member secretary, Tosheli Zhimomi, lauded the dedicated services of district functionaries in all 17 districts and acknowledged best performing districts in various categories.
In her address, Social Welfare secretary and Mission Shakti mission director, Yongchingkumla, highlighted key achievements during the last financial year. She informed that Sakhi-One Stop Centres (OSC) were established in six newly created districts in October 2025, while Shakti Sadan and Sakhi Niwas continued outreach support to targeted beneficiaries. Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), 6,878 beneficiaries received cash incentives amounting to Rs. 3,33,97,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer during FY 2025–26. She urged officials to continue serving women with sensitivity, efficiency and accountability.
Delivering the keynote address, Social Welfare secretary & AHoD, Limawabang Jamir, stressed that convergence was the main intervention strategy for effective implementation of activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW). He underscored the fruitful collaboration between the Social Welfare Department, district administration and other converging departments in carrying out Mission Shakti activities.
The technical session featured a presentation on convergence with key missions and programmes by assistant director Asangla Jamir, sharing of best practices by districts under SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women, SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan and Sakhi Niwas, and a session on integrated service delivery mechanisms for children by programme manager Raitale Zeliang, State Child Protection Society, Mission Vatsalya.
The programme concluded with deliberations and interactive discussions aimed at strengthening district-level coordination and improving support systems for women and children across the state.
