DIMAPUR: Continuing its mission of spiritual outreach and community service, Koinonia Baptist Church on Sunday inaugurated and dedicated the Koinonia Prayer Centre (KPC) at Vidima, Chümoukedima. This is the second prayer centre of the mission, the first being at Tsiesema Basa.
The inaugural programme, held under the theme, “My house shall be called a house of prayer” (Matthew 21:13), was hosted by Neikho-o Mere and family. Assistant pastor Zashekho Hibo, chaired the inaugural programme, while the dedication message was delivered by founder and pastor Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo, who is also principal of Kohima Bible College. In his sermon, Rev. Kiewhuo stressed that churches and Christians without prayer cannot prevail, urging believers to remain steadfast in faith and prayer.
During the programme, Ruokuoneizo Sanchu (Evangelist) and Zashekho Hibo (Assistant Pastor) were inducted as full-time workers at the centre. Lhouzakie Rutsa, deacon of KBC, presented the report, noting that the prayer centre was initiated as part of the church’s 25th anniversary celebration. The foundation stone was laid on June 18, 2024, and construction completed in 21 months.
Delivering the vote of thanks, pastor H. Rokopra Mekro described the centre as a divinely ordained place for Nagaland, particularly for Chümoukedima and Dimapur. He acknowledged the support of church members, women’s fellowship, youth groups and land donor Seitseilhou Virie, whose son read a letter dedicating the land “for the glory of God.”
Speaking on behalf of his father, land donor Seitseilhou Virie, Ruokuo Kire recounted that his father had earnestly prayed for the establishment of the centre. Reading his father’s letter, he said: “With a grateful heart, I humbly offer this land for the glory of God. May this place become a place of prayer, healing, worship and salvation for generations to come. May every prayer lifted here be answered, every heart be renewed and every soul be drawn closer to God. May the name of the Lord be lifted high forever. Amen.”
