CRPF, Kohima Forest Division conduct joint plantation drive

DIMAPUR: As part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development, the 78 Battalion CRPF in collaboration with the Kohima Forest Division, Kohima Range, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, organized a Joint Tree Plantation Drive at the Forest Department’s purchased land at Chakhabama, Kohima district on June 1.
Held under the theme “Inspired by Nature – for climate, for our future”, the programme emphasized the importance of preserving ecological balance and fostering environmental stewardship among citizens and security personnel. Officers and personnel of 78 Bn CRPF along with forest officials participated in the drive, planting saplings of indigenous and environmentally significant species to enhance green cover, restore ecological health and promote biodiversity.
Speaking at the event, Vikram, Assistant Commandant, 78 Bn CRPF, and Khrielakuolie, Forest Ranger, Kohima Range, highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at climate resilience and ecological protection.
The plantation drive also served as a platform to spread awareness on afforestation, conservation of natural resources and the role of individuals in safeguarding the environment.
Deployed in Nagaland since 2007, the 78 Bn CRPF has been engaged in maintaining peace, law and order, while also conducting community outreach programmes.
