NSCN (I-M) rejects MHA allegations

DIMAPUR, JUN 24 (NPN): NSCN (I-M) has strongly rejected allegations contained in a recent order issued by the Government of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division), describing the order as an accusation made without proof.
In a press statement, NSCN (I-M) said the order was “not a statement of facts” but an accusation, and alleged that the Government of India had chosen “presumption over proof and narrative over evidence” by attributing a politically sensitive incident to NSCN.
NSCN categorically denied any involvement in the alleged destruction of poppy fields, exchange of fire or the deaths mentioned in the order.
It maintained that any claim linking NSCN to the incidents was unsubstantiated and appeared intended to prejudice public opinion before a fair and independent inquiry.
It also stated that the NSCN (I-M) was not a terrorist or banned organisation under Indian law.
Referring to the Milan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of November 18, 2002, NSCN (I-M) said the agreement was an instrument to secure peace and dignity for communities affected by decades of conflict.
It called upon Government of India to act decisively, transparently and in good faith to honour its obligations under the Milan MoU.
NSCN further said it rejected the order in its entirety and condemned what it described as an attempt to manufacture guilt without proof.
It said that truth should not be sacrificed for convenience in a conflict-ridden region.
