Assam Rifles donates appliances to SAA Dimapur

DIMAPUR, JUN 25 (NPN): In a Assam Rifles on Thursday donated a refrigerator and two water purifiers to the Government-run Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Dimapur, in a gesture aimed at supporting child welfare and strengthening care facilities for children.
The donation was carried out under an initiative of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Dimapur, led by chairperson Moamenla Yaden along with her team. The programme was attended by officials of Assam Rifles, members of the Child Welfare Committee, staff of the adoption agency, DCPU and Staff, Childline and officials from the Social Welfare department.
The appliances were formally handed over by Brigadier Mayank Singh Jamwal, Commander/Deputy Inspector General, 6 Sector Assam Rifles, to District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Dimapur Avika Zhimomi.
Addressing the gathering, Brig. Jamwal lauded the efforts of the Child Welfare Committee and the staff of the Specialized Adoption Agency for their dedication towards the care, protection and holistic development of children. He said every child deserved a nurturing environment filled with care, affection and opportunities to realise their potential.
Expressing hope that the donated facilities would strengthen the agency’s efforts in providing quality care and a healthy environment for children, he stressed the importance of clean drinking water, proper nutrition and hygiene as essential components of a child’s growth and development.
Brig. Jamwal also reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to community welfare initiatives across the Northeast and encouraged the children to dream big, believe in themselves and continue learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Major P.K. Patnaik said the distribution of the appliances reflected the force’s commitment towards community welfare and support for institutions working for the well-being of children. He noted that access to clean drinking water, proper food storage and safe preservation of medicines were essential for maintaining the health of children and infants at the agency.
Patnaik said the water purifiers would help ensure safe drinking water, while the refrigerator would assist in keeping food fresh and medicines properly stored. He described the donation as a small contribution made with a spirit of goodwill and respect for the important work being undertaken by the agency.
The programme highlighted the shared commitment of Assam Rifles, the Child Welfare Committee and the Specialized Adoption Agency towards ensuring a healthier and more supportive environment for children under institutional care.
