DIMAPUR, JUL 3 (NPN): The Nagaland Cricket Association (affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India) convened its 1st Apex Council Meeting-cum-formal handing & taking over ceremony of the newly elected Apex Council for the tenure 2026–2029 at the Association’s Conference Room.
The meeting marked the official commencement of the new council’s tenure, with outgoing office-bearers formally handing over responsibilities to the newly elected members. The transition underscores the Association’s commitment to good governance, continuity and the sustained development of cricket in Nagaland.
Following the meeting, the outgoing and incoming Apex Council members paid a courtesy call on the chief minister of Nagaland and chief patron of the Association, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, along with patrons Abu Metha and K. T. Sukhalu. The council expressed appreciation for their continued guidance and support in promoting cricket in the State. The Association also acknowledged the Board of Control for Cricket in India for its unwavering support under the leadership of Hon. Secretary, Devajit Saikia.
The newly elected Council further visited chairman of the Sovima Village Council, Sebastian Zumvü, to convey gratitude for the village’s longstanding cooperation and support towards the Association’s activities.
The Nagaland Cricket Association extended its gratitude to the outgoing Apex Council for its dedicated service and valuable contributions. Confident in the new leadership, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cricket administration, nurturing talent and advancing the sport across Nagaland while upholding the highest standards of governance, transparency and professionalism.
The newly elected Apex Council comprises: Watinuksung Jamir as Hon. President; Khamongo Humtsoe – Vice President; Menguvilie Sakhrie – Hon. Secretary; Nikika G. Zhimomi – Joint Secretary; Ketholelie Sogotsu – Hon. Treasurer; Vezokho Chotso – Apex Council Member.
