Music, dance and cultural performances from different communities came together at the Amphitheatre of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Stone Sculpture Garden, Dimapur, on Saturday evening as “Rhythms of Freedom – Tiranga” marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a message of unity, diversity and compassion.
Organised by the NEZCC Dimapur, the Independence Day charity concert drew nearly 1,000 people for an evening of music, cultural performances and community participation.
The concert was dedicated to supporting families affected by recent disasters across Nagaland. The programme featured artists, choirs, bands and cultural groups representing various communities.
Among the featured performers were Nise Meruno, Sunep Lemtur, Kekhrie Ringa, Hentok Konyak and Lenen Jamir, along with groups such as Colored Keys and 5 Minutes Band. Musik-A School, Cantamus Choir, Tetso College Choir and Abdon Mech.
The concert also showcased folk and traditional performances. Folk dances were presented by the Dimasa Union, Marwari Samaj, Punjabi Samaj, Bihar Samaj, Nepal Samaj and Gorkha Union, while the Bengali Samaj and Tibetan/Bhutia Welfare Association presented cultural performances.
