Eighteen-year-old Atongjungla Walling, a BA first-semester student, was crowned Miss Mokokchung 2026 at a glittering grand finale held at Town Hall, Mokokchung, on August 14.
Contestant No. 3, Chubaienla Pongen, and Contestant No. 9, Reshma Sahani, were crowned first and second runners-up respectively.
The grand finale saw 11 contestants compete for the coveted title through three rounds—traditional, cocktail and evening wear.
The pageant was organised by Forerunners Mokokchung under the guidance of the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) and powered by Forerunners Nagaland. Walling emerged as the winner after impressing the judges with her response to the final question, which asked how she would contribute to making a difference in her community if she did not win the title.
Responding to the question, Walling said she would continue to use her voice to encourage young people to step out of their comfort zones. She stressed that failure is not the end, but that the courage to continue matters.
Her response won appreciation from both the judges and the audience and helped seal her victory.
The event also featured a series of entertainment performances by renowned artists and performers, adding to the evening’s celebrations.
Various subtitles were also awarded during the pageant. Lily Rai won Miss Beautiful Smile and Miss Beautiful Skin, while Aning Konyak was named Miss Runway. Likhum S Sangtam won Miss Congeniality, Limasungla Imsong was crowned Queen of Hearts, and Reshma Sahani won Miss Talented.
Atongjungla Walling was also named Miss Photogenic, while Yangersenla won the Miss Perfect 10 subtitle.
