Himanta discusses key issues with Sitharaman, Joshi

Guwahati, Aug 21 (PTI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday called on Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Prahlad Joshi in the national capital and discussed issues concerning key sectors of the state.
He also updated Sitharaman on the state government’s response to the flood situation and the roadmap to rehabilitate the affected people. “It is always a pleasure to meet Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt @nsitharaman Ji, who has consistently been a strong champion of Assam’s interests and aspirations,” Sarma said in a post on X. “As always, she heard our concerns with great attention and sensitivity. I am deeply grateful for her positive response and assurance that the Government of India will stand firmly with Assam as we work to help every flood-affected family rebuild their lives,” Sarma added. The chief minister also had a “very productive meeting” with Joshi, the Union Minister for Education, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
“Our discussions covered key priorities for Assam across education, food and civil supplies, and renewable energy. Grateful to Shri Joshi Ji for his positive approach and continued support for Assam,” Sarma said in another social media post.
