Man held with cannabis in Arunachal

Itanagar, Aug 21 (PTI): A 22-year-old man was arrested with 6.39 kg of cannabis in Arunachal Pradesh, police said on Friday.
Tachung Beyong, a resident of Pakke Camp in East Kameng district, was intercepted at Boda Namchi in Nirjuli, Capital Region SP Nyelam Nega said.
A search of Beyong led to the recovery of 34 grams of suspected cannabis packed in three packets, he said.
Police subsequently searched his scooter and recovered another 910 grams of the contraband packed in 74 packets, he added.
A further search of his rented accommodation led to the recovery of another 5.44 kg of cannabis, taking the total seizure to 6.39 kg, Nega said.
Police also recovered Rs 27,400 in cash from his possession.
In a separate operation, police in Banderdewa arrested two persons with 14.84 gram of suspected heroin, officials said.
The seizure was made at the Banderdewa check gate on Thursday after police received information about the transportation of narcotics.
A vehicle was intercepted, and its occupants searched, leading to the recovery of 12 vials containing orange-coloured powder suspected to be heroin. The substance, along with the vials, weighed 14.84 grams and was valued at around Rs 1.2-2 lakh in the illicit market, officials said.
The accused were identified as Yorum Soku (24), a resident of Nirjuli, and Nikja Kaya (24), a resident of Koloriang.
