Mount Mary College celebrated its 14th Freshers’ Day at Yashipokla Memorial Hall here on August 22, under the theme “A Tale Yet Untold”, welcoming its new students with a vibrant celebration of talent, culture and youthful enthusiasm.
Delivering the exhortation, Managing Director of Mount Mary College, Dr C. Teeya Imsong encouraged the freshers to reflect on the significance of themes in life.
He observed that every programme, lecture and experience carries a theme that can stimulate learning and help individuals discover their own untold stories.
Acknowledging the confidence and boldness of today’s youth, Dr Imsong stressed that confidence must be complemented by knowledge, skills, discipline and continuous learning.
He urged the students to avoid lethargy and excuses, emphasising that merely spending time does not automatically translate into wisdom or knowledge.
He also highlighted the college’s “Earn While You Learn” initiative and Japanese Language Programme, which are aimed at equipping students with practical skills and expanding their career opportunities.
The celebration featured Ethnic, Casual and Formal Rounds, besides departmental performances, solo presentations and dance performances by students from the Departments of Political Science, Education, Commerce, English, Sociology, Psychology and History.
The Mr and Miss Fresher competition was judged by a panel comprising Lovikali Swu, Ayuh W Konyak, Temsu Sanglir and Viphresul Natso. Following the various rounds, Soshe was crowned Mr Fresher, while Menevinuo Medoze was crowned Miss Fresher.
The programme concluded with the College Anthem and a closing prayer, marking the beginning of the freshers’ journey at Mount Mary College under the theme “A Tale Yet Untold”.
