Sidewalk Band wins 6th edition of Phoenix Talent Hunt at MCC

Model Christian College, Kohima, hosted the sixth edition of Inter-Collegiate Talent Hunt Phoenix 2026 under the theme “Eclectic Effervescent Effulgent”, providing a vibrant platform for college students to showcase their creativity, innovation and artistic excellence. The event carried a total cash prize pool of Rs. 45,000.
Sidewalk Band from St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama secured the coveted first position, winning a cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
Tri-Ds from Kohima College bagged the second position with Rs. 15,000, while Kilini P. Zhimo from Model Christian College claimed the third spot with Rs. 10,000.
Over 20 participants representing colleges from Kohima, Chümukedima and Dimapur competed across diverse categories such as dance, solo, blindfold piano piece, band, poetry declamation, and sign language interpretation.
The audience was treated to special performances, including original compositions by Arenchenla Walling, winner of the first edition of Phoenix and an energetic rock performance by The Gears 5.1, winners of Season 7 Inter-School Battle of the Bands.
The programme commenced with an invocation by S.P. Francis, Managing Director, followed by a curtain raiser speech from Miss Nagaland 2025, Linoka K. Achumi.
The panel of judges included Miss Universe India 4th Runner-up, Ruopfuzhano Whiso, who is also a model, host and content creator; Sürhüveyi Tetseo (LRSM), Managing Director of De Operettas Music Institute Kohima; and Noune Khamo, freelance performer, singer and educator.
The event concluded successfully with a vote of thanks delivered by Event Coordinator, Thethem Hangsing.
