Model Christian College (MCC), Kohima, organised the sixth edition of its Inter-Collegiate Talent Hunt, Phoenix 2026, on August 29 under the theme “Eclectic, Effervescent, Effulgent.”
The event provided a platform for college students to showcase their creativity, innovation and artistic expression, with a total cash prize of Rs. 45,000.
The programme began with an invocation by Managing Director, S.P. Francis followed by a curtain-raiser speech by Miss Nagaland 2025 Linoka K. Achumi. The formal session also included the introduction of the judges. The judging panel comprised Miss Universe India fourth runner-up, model, host and content creator; Ruopfuzhano Whiso, Managing Director of De Operettas Music Institute, Kohima; Sürhüveyi Tetseo (LRSM) and freelance performer, singer and educator Noune Khamo.
More than 20 participants representing colleges from Kohima, Chümoukedima and Dimapur competed in various categories, including dance, solo performance, blindfold piano, band, poetry declamation and sign language interpretation.
Sidewalk Band from St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, emerged winners and received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000. Tri-Ds from Kohima College secured the second position with Rs. 15,000, while Kilini P. Zhimo of Model Christian College finished third and received Rs. 10,000.
The event also featured a special performance by Arenchenla Walling, winner of the inaugural edition of Phoenix, who captivated the audience with her original compositions. The Gears 5.1, winners of Season 7 of the Inter-School Battle of the Bands, further entertained the audience with an energetic rock performance.
