
With the aim to promote unity and strengthen the relationship between the Naga brothers, Khezhakeno village under Phek district and Lazami under Zunheboto district held brotherhood fellowship at Lazami village with president Sümi Hoho, Toniho Yeptho and former president Chakhesang Public Organization, Sovenyi as the guests of honour on November 30.
Toniho Yeptho in his address congratulated the pioneers and elders of the two villages (Khezhakeno & Lazami) for initiating the brotherhood fellowship which would usher in greater ties and bond, not only between these two villages, but between Sumi and Chakhesang and also to all Nagas as well. He narrated about the forefathers’ tale that Sumis and Chakhesangs were blood brothers and from the same ancestors. He said with the passage of time the true spirit of brotherhood and relationship had also died down. He said that it should be strengthened without any hesitation to extend brotherly help to one another in times of need. Yeptho reminded that both the villages should be emotionally and culturally integrated and to pass this on to the younger generation.
Sovenyi said that historically the two villages branched out from the same village but with the passage of time the present generation has almost forgotten each other. Praising the Sümi community, he said Sümi has many good qualities and trait like respecting elders, sincerity, adventurous, hard working, patriotic and women were considered as good wife and mother. Stressing on Naga Hoho issue, Sovenyi appealed the Sümi Hoho to rethink the decision of withdrawing from Naga Hoho and stay together as family for stronger and better relationship.
Senior advocate Timikha Koza in his speak on behalf of the Khezhakeno villagers expressed gratitude to Lazami village for organizing the programme. He appealed both the communities to have the healthy relationship. Programme was chaired by principal, Life Insurance Training Institute, Danis Achumi while cultural presentation was given by the villagers of Lazami and Khezakeno. Vote of thanks was pronounced by chairman, Lazami Village Council Yikuto Achumi and concluded with a benediction prayer by CRC Sodzulhou Dimapur Rev. Bulechu Koza. Earlier, migration monolith was unveiled by Sovenyi, former president, CPO and brotherhood fellowship monolith was unveiled by, Sumi Hoho president Toniho Yeptho. The programme was attended by hundreds of Khezhakeno and Lazami villagers.
