Advisor Kropol calls for urgent repair of NH-2 alternate route

DIMAPUR

Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Er. Kropol Vitsu, conducted an on-site inspection of the NH-2 alternate road connecting Zero Point, Kezoma Urban Station to Kidima village on August 22, accompanied by technical officials from NPWD (R&B, South Division) and the EAC of Kezocha Sub-Division.
During the inspection, Vitsu observed that the road, originally constructed for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), is currently being used as an alternate route for heavy vehicles traveling to Manipur.
The increased load has caused extensive damage, rendering large portions of the road unsafe and impassable for smaller vehicles due to deep potholes and surface erosion.
Expressing serious concern over the deteriorating condition, Vitsu said the road, which should serve as a vital interstate lifeline, has become a daily hardship for local residents. He therefore appealed to the concerned authorities to initiate immediate restoration works.
“Timely intervention is essential not only to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of indigenous communities but also to ensure uninterrupted connectivity to the neighbouring state of Manipur,” he stated.
He reiterated that the road’s current condition demands prioritization and called for swift action to address the issue without further delay.
