Aggrieved NH-29 landowners plan civil suit

DIMAPUR: Aggrieved landowners affected by the already constructed NH-29 expansion project along the Purana Bazar-Chümoukedima stretch have been informed that preparations were underway to pursue legal remedy through a civil suit over issues relating to re-survey and compensation.
In a statement, coordinator K. Samuel, press and record secretary Kheto R. Zhimomi and Mutsitso Kezo stated that a meeting was held with authorities on May 5 regarding re-survey and fair compensation for landowners placed under the rejected list (tallied and excess). It said that while compensation for 136 “less” landowners had already been approved, even those who still felt aggrieved were welcome to join and support the common cause.
The aggrieved landowners were advised during the meeting to seek legal remedy through a civil suit, while the advisor to the aggrieved landowners committee also expressed support for pursuing the matter through appropriate legal proceedings.
The committee informed that all concerned landowners have been requested to urgently submit two Xerox copies each of their land pattas for the proposed legal proceedings. It said several landowners had not yet submitted the required documents and appealed for cooperation from all concerned. The documents may be submitted to the signatories or contact press and record secretary at 8787534356.
