AR undertakes multiple civic action initiatives across Nagaland

Dimapur

Assam Rifles carried out a series of civic action programmes across Nagaland, reflecting its commitment to community welfare, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment. The initiatives, undertaken under Op Sadbhavna, ranged from construction of vital infrastructure to humanitarian outreach and motivational programmes for local youth.
At Old Tesen village in Peren district, Assam Rifles under Spear Corps of the Indian Army handed over a newly constructed Community Hall to the residents. The project, executed under Op Sadbhavna, was aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life in remote areas. The hall is expected to serve as a vital space for village meetings, social gatherings, educational activities, and cultural programmes. Villagers expressed gratitude for the facility, which will be particularly useful during the rainy season when outdoor gatherings are difficult. The event witnessed the participation of 90 locals, who conveyed appreciation for the efforts of Assam Rifles in providing essential infrastructure.
In Zunheboto district, Assam Rifles extended humanitarian support to underprivileged children at Mt Chingkhu Hostel, Tsutoho village. Troops distributed food items and daily essentials including rice, pulses, cooking oil, hygiene products, and other necessities.
The outreach programme not only ensured basic needs were met but also created an opportunity for personnel to interact with the children, sharing moments of warmth and encouragement. The hostel management expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting that such initiatives reflect Assam Rifles’ ethos of compassion and responsibility towards the welfare of the community.
A motivational lecture on joining the Armed Forces was organised at Langnyok village on February 2.
The programme was attended by 18 villagers and seven Village Guards. The lecture highlighted career opportunities, entry schemes, eligibility criteria, and the values of discipline, integrity, and service.
Participants were briefed on the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding sovereignty, maintaining peace, and assisting during calamities. The interactive session inspired local youth to consider the Armed Forces as a career of honour and national duty, while instilling patriotism and discipline.
Further, Assam Rifles inaugurated a Rain Water Harvesting Tank at Wakching Chingla village in Mon district under Op Sadbhavna 2025–26.
The project was undertaken following a request from the Village Council, keeping in view the persistent water scarcity faced by the villagers. Located in a remote hilly terrain, the village has limited access to reliable water sources, making the rain water harvesting system a sustainable solution. The facility is expected to significantly improve water availability, reduce dependence on distant sources, and enhance the overall quality of life. The project also promotes environmental sustainability through effective water conservation practices.
