State Bank of India (SBI) has assured its customers that normal banking activities would not be affected even though some branches had been sealed here by District Task Force (DTF), Dimapur.
Speaking to Nagaland Post over phone, SBI regional manager Abinash Hembrom acknowledged that some branches had been sealed, but he said normal banking activities could still be carried out in other branches that were functioning. He said customer services of the sealed branches had been diverted to branches that have not been sealed.
Around four SBI branches– Main branch, Bazaar, Rangapahar and Golaghat) had been sealed following detection of positive cases. Regarding transactions and transfer of money, Hembrom said both could be carried out in other branches. He, however, added that there were certain restrictions regarding cash transactions depending on the amount.
He maintained that “business continuity plan” would be carried out, ensuring continuity of critical banking and IT operations, whereby customers from sealed branches can transact money from unsealed branches, “however with restrictions on amount”. In regards to ATM services, he claimed that this would not be affected. Hembrom encouraged customers to explore Internet banking platform, maintaining that it was the best platform during the pandemic.
