 Girls’ Day to be observed every month in Mon

A District Task Force on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) meeting was held on January 21 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mon under the theme, “Save the girl child: Educate the girl child.”
During the meeting, the house resolved to hold a “Girls’ Day” every month which will be organized in schools and deliberations will be held to generate awareness about the BBBP Campaign.
Deputy Commissioner Mon, Thavaseelan K, who conducted the meeting, stated that Mon District had shown the second highest CSR as per the 2011 Census with an alarming decline of 61% since the 2001 Census. He added that when a girl child is born in the district hospital, the child’s house will be visited and she will be felicitated.

BBBP street play in Mon

A street play to spread awareness about the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign was organized by district administration in the streets of Mon Town on January 21 where Konyak Baptist Church, Mon Youth department presented a skit. The show dealt with the topics of equal opportunity and rights for both girls and boys. The street play was shown at Private Station and New Site of Mon town.

Lomei Konyak, president KNSK, who also attended the meeting said that Konyak women were in full support and ready to help to any extent for the success of this campaign and  the entire KNSK unit will conduct an awareness seminar on girls rights. 
She also said that Konyak women were skilled in weaving, knitting, bead making and handicrafts, but they need vocational trainings for girls and outlets to sell the products.
The BBBP pledge was also taken which led by DC Mon. The meeting was attended by project director, DRDA, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer, district statistic officer, district education officer, child development project officer, district program officer, district administration and representatives of Konyak Union, KNSK & KSU.
 

Wokha: BBBP 2nd phase launched
DIMAPUR: A launching program for planned activities of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) week was organized by district administration at DC conference hall, Wokha on January 21. The event also doubled up as a consultative meeting of the District Task Force (DTF)/BTF/Police and other key stakeholders.
According to a DIPR report, DC Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, while launching the planned BBBP 2019 activities, stated that the ministry would be celebrating National Girl Child Day starting from January 21 till 26, and various activities and programs in the district as well as block levels are planned. He urged everyone to extend their support for the success of the program.
Speaking on women’s role in various social fields, the DC said that women contributes greatly to society, and it is necessary to focus on empowerment of women so that they may take an equal role and status in society.
Dr. Samoon also pointed out that there were many government schemes for children and women, being implemented by Anganwadi and ASHA workers. He therefore, reminded the workers of their responsibilities to carry out their duties honestly and with dedication.
General secretary, Lotha Hoho, S. Abenthung Ngullie emphasized on the importance of the girl child and women in society. He also promised all possible support from their end towards the success of the program. Nsungbeni, local champion, BBBP Wokha, shared her experiences and achievements in support of the BBBP.
SDO (C), Chonpenthung Ezung, gave a brief overview of the BBBP’s 1st phase. The function was chaired by EAC, Wokha, Tumben P Tsanglao and a vote of thanks was proposed by senior supervisor, CDPO, Wokha, Erenbeni.
DTF Longleng to celebrate National Girl Child Day
DIMAPUR: A convergence meeting of the District task Force, Longleng along with line departments and stakeholders was held at DC’s conference hall, Longleng on January 21. 
According to a DIPR report, after a thorough discussion and deliberation the meeting decided to carry out the following activities in coordination with Longleng town Students’ Union (LTSU): Signature campaign and silent march on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) on January 22; Wall painting and postal campaign in important places of the town, awareness camp on various schemes and programs for women and the girl child on January 23; Mini marathon for both the girl and boy child under the BBBP theme; celebration of birth of girl child on January 24; Flash mob (surprise street performance of dance and songs), celebration of National Voters day, felicitation of young girl voters etc on January 25; culmination and opening of BBBP stall on Republic day 2019 on January 26. 
All activities will be observed based on the BBBP theme. Champions and winners will be felicitated. The winners of the marathon race will be awarded cash prizes.
Chukitong Block BBBP week
DIMAPUR: Chukitong Block Task Force for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) organized an opening program for the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week” (to be observed from January 21 to 26) under the theme “Empowering Girl Child for a Better Tomorrow”, on January 21. 
According to a DIPR report, the program was held at the Dobhashi Court under EAC Chukitong, chaired by EAC Chukitong. Participants included Anganwadi workers under CDPO Chukitong and ASHAs under PHC Chukitong. The participants were sensitized on the door to door campaign, visiting households and pasting BBBP stickers on houses, public buildings, village community halls, government offices etc.
